Geraldo Rivera is making a whole lot of noise about a potential run for the U.S. Senate seat from New Jersey now occupied by Democrat Frank Lautenberg. That noise is getting transmitted in large part on Fox News, where Rivera, a Republican, is a contributor. Last Friday, he did turns (at least) on “Fox & Friends, “Studio B” and “The O’Reilly Factor.” The New York Times’s Brian Stelter reports today that Fox News is monitoring Rivera’s evolution on this issue, the better to boot him from the Fox News airwaves once he reaches a certain point: “Geraldo would have to step aside as soon as he made a formal decision, and we’re continuing to monitor the situation,” notes a Fox News spokesperson in the piece.
Those Foxies may want to have a look at this little excerpt from Rivera’s chat on the “Factor” last Friday night: “We can revive, we think, the moribund GOP in the Garden State, hopefully get the support of people like our incomparable governor, Chris Christie and others.”
The guy’s already courting endorsements. What more grounds do you need, Fox News?
