Sharyl Attkisson

A dedicated reader of the Erik Wemple Blog hit us today with an e-mail: Any updates on the Sharyl Attkisson computer thing?

Good question. After all, it has been:

* Six weeks since the CBS News investigative reporter said that her “compromised” computers “could be” related to the government’s surveillance of Fox News reporter James Rosen.

* More than three weeks since CBS News confirmed “multiple” computer breaches of Attkisson’s computer.

* And three weeks since Attkisson told Fox News host Bill O’Reilly, “I think I know” the culprit behind the computer invasions.

A fresh inquiry from the Erik Wemple Blog turned up no news from CBS News. Attkisson didn’t respond right away to an e-mail inquiry.

The silence from the hacking victims yields some possibilities: They could be doing a massive computer forensics analysis to find the perpetrator. Or they could be doing a modest computer forensics analysis to find the perpetrator. Or they could be hoping that the issue just goes away. It’s that last possibility that the Erik Wemple Blog is seeking to block with its no-news updates.
