Logitech Revue price cut goes into effect

The Logitech Revue is now $99, and set for an update for later this summer.
Those who’ve been on the fence about connecting up their TV can now get Logitech’s Revue — a set-top box and keyboard for Google TV — for $99. Logitech also announced that a second version of Google TV with Android 3.1 (Honeycomb) will hit the devices later this summer.

The company had been selling the Revue for $249 but announced its intended price cut in its earnings call last Wednesday.

The company said it was cutting the price of its televisions, after reporting that sales were “slightly negative during the quarter, as returns of the product were higher than the very modest sales.”

Logitech has since clarified its remarks about the returns, emphasizing that the company was referring to returns from retailers and distributors, not customers.

“Since we introduced Logitech Revue in October 2010, consumer returns for the product have averaged at levels comparable to other Logitech products,” said company spokeswoman Pamela McCracken in a statement.
