Nintendo announced that it will cut the price of its Wii console to $149.The $50 price cut also includes copy of the game MarioKart and a Wii wheel with purchase starting May 15.
In addition to the new price for the Wii, Nintendo announced a cheaper line of games priced at $19.99. Called “Nintendo Selects,” the games — The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Animal Crossing: City Folk, Mario Super Sluggers and Wii Sports — will also launch with their new prices on May 15. Wii Sports has never been sold on its own before.
The drop comes soon after Nintendo’s announcement that it is working on a new Wii, to be unveiled at this June’s Electronic Entertainment Expo. The second Wii is expected in stores sometime in 2012.
