Months after Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos hinted that his company was planning to enter the tablet market, a report from The Wall Street Journal says that the online retailer will have its entry ready to go by October.
Amazon already made news toady by slashing the price of its 3G Kindle to $139 from $164, though the cheaper model will have ads supported by AT&T.
The rumored tablet will have a 9-inch screen and be powered by Google’s Android platform, but will not have a camera, the report said, citing “people familiar with the matter.”
Users will be able to watch videos and listen to music purchased or rented from Amazon.
The report also said that the company will release two new Kindle models, one with a touch screen and lower-end model without a touch screen.
