App developers speaking to TechCrunch said that testing logs for their app indicate that someone is testing a new Apple device that runs on both AT&T and Verizon.
The developers said that app logs indicate that a phone using iOS 5 and showing two kinds of codes that indicate the same device is running on CDMA and GSM networks.
The phone would be a unified, “global phone,” that can run on both kinds of networks and would make traveling much easier for Apple customers.
The revelation from TechCrunch also puts a damper on hopes that the next iPhone will run 4G LTE, but bolsters older speculation about the phone back in February when Verizon launched its iPhone. At that time, the repair company iFixYouri found that the phone had a dual chip, and would work if it had the space for a SIM card.
