Report: Apple’s new iPhone screen under 4 inches

Apple’s next iPhone may have a slightly larger screen and a smaller bezel. (Paul Hackett - Reuters)
Speculation about Apple’s newest iPhone is really flying now that the company is expected to launch the handset in the next two months. Rumors about the screen alone have varied since the launch of the Verizon iPhone, with many expecting the new model to have a larger edge-to-edge screen and some hoping to see a phone with four inches of screen real estate or more.

But the latest report from Taiwanese tech site Digitimes citing, as usual, unnamed sources in Apple’s supply chain claims that the next iPhone will not hit the 4-inch mark, though they say it will have a 3.5-inch or 3.7-inch screen, which is slightly larger than the display on the iPhone 4.

The report did say, however, that the new phone will have a thinner bezel and “make the screen look larger,” which may lend some credence to those who’ve heard from sources that the next phone will have something resembling an edge-to-edge design.
