Roku announces Roku 2 to stream content on television

Roku released the Roku 2, which includes some casual games.
Taking on Apple TV head on, Roku announced a new line of its connected TV set-top boxes. The Roku 2 line of devices lets users stream content on their televisions and also takes aim at casual gamers.

The new line, priced from $59.99, features games such as Angry Birds and also has new channels for Facebook, AOL HD and FOXNews.com.

The new Roku, like Apple TV, supports up to 1080p HD video on its $79.99 and $99.99 models.

The devices are scheduled to hit the market by the end of July. A bundle that includes the Roku game remote and a 2GB MicroSD card is expected to launch in the coming weeks and will likely retail for $29.99 on the manufacturer’s Web site.
