Yahoo Buzz closing down April 21

Yahoo will stop supporting Yahoo Buzz on April 21, 2011

Yahoo posted that it will no longer be supporting Yahoo Buzz, starting April 21. Buzz was Yahoo’s answer to Digg and Reddit — a social bookmarking site that let users talk up interesting stories.

The writing’s been on the wall for Yahoo Buzz since the company announced it was “sunsetting”several of its web apps, including MyBlogLog and Delicious, which Yahoo is trying to sell. Buzz was also on the leaked slide of apps being retired.

Buzz was Yahoo’s answer to Digg and Reddit — a social bookmarking site that let users talk up interesting stories.

The Buzz team put up a short statement announcing the decision

Yahoo! Buzz will be discontinued as of April 21, 2011. As of this date, you will be unable to access the Yahoo! Buzz site. This was a hard decision. However this will help us focus on our core strengths and new innovations.

We appreciate your patronage.

Between this and Google Video, it seems like tech companies have gotten into the spring cleaning spirit.

Do you use Yahoo Buzz? Did you use it and then move on to a different service?
