Sen. Daniel Inouye dies at age 88

Multiple news outlets have reported that Sen. Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii), the nation’s longest-serving senator, died on Monday at age 88.

Inouye’s office confirmed the senator’s death, saying he passed away of “respiratory complications” on Monday evening and that his last word was “Aloha.”

The longtime senator had been hospitalized since early December with respiratory problems.
