The Washington Post

Long-term paid limbo for some federal workers accused of breaking rules

A few items that caught our attention today:

• A feature story by the Post’s Lisa Rein explores how federal workers collect full pay for months or even years while under investigation for rule-breaking.

(Andrew Harrer/Bloomberg)

• We can’t mention noteworthy stories without pointing out today’s Washington Post story about Vice President Joe Biden and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ken.) nearing a deal on tax hikes. The two sides reportedly remain hung up on spending cuts, however.

• The Atlantic reports that Al-Qaeda in Yemen has placed a bounty on the head of a U.S. ambassador and any American soldiers in the Middle East nation.
