No shutdown furloughs for Navy Yard’s Building 197 employees

Employees who witnessed the shooting rampage this month at the Navy Yard will be exempt from furloughs in the event of a government shutdown, according to Navy officials.

“Everyone seated in or physically at the NAVSEA headquarters building on Sept. 16 will be excepted from furloughs” if the government closes down this week, said a Navy official who remained anonymous to discuss plans that have not been announced yet.
