Brandon Marshall traded to Bears, eliminating a Redskins competitor for top wide receivers

In a move that appears to have eliminated a competitor in the Washington Redskins’ pursuit of wide receiver Vincent Jackson, the Chicago Bears have reportedly acquired Brandon Marshall from the Miami Dolphins for two third-round draft picks.

Like the Redskins, the Bears had been rumored to have interest in Jackson, who last year recorded 60 catches for 1,101 yards and nine touchdowns for the San Diego Chargers. But the trade for Marshall, which was first reported by Fox Sports, would seem to eliminate them from that competition.

As many as eight teams have been described as interested in Jackson, but the Redskins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are believed to be the front-runners.
