Fred Davis, Oshiomogho Atogwe both hopeful

Injuries have kept Oshiomogho Atogwe off the practice field all week and limited tight end Fred Davis, but both will game-time decisions for Sunday’s game against San Francisco.

After missing the Carolina game Oct. 23, Atogwe returned to action last Sunday against the Bills. But with both toe and knee injuries, his status for this week’s game is up in the air.

“It’s not so much where it’s a pain thing,” Atogwe said, “it’s more not allowing me to do the things I like to do and the way I’m used to.”

While Atogwe said he’s “definitely hoping to play,” Davis seemed a bit more confident in his chances.

Davis stayed off his sore ankle Monday and Tuesday and didn’t practice Wednesday. That rest early in the week, he said, has paid dividends. He was limited in practice Thursday and Friday and hopes he’ll see the field Sunday against the 49ers. Davis is the Redskins’ top healthy playmaker on offense, and with Chris Cooley on injured reserve, the offense definitely needs him against San Francisco’s and its skilled defense.

“It bothered me a little bit,” Davis said of his ankle, “but every day it got better.”
