The team’s free agents are signed and wearing Redskins’ threads, but they are not allowed to practice with their teammates.
Instead, Santana Moss, Donte Stallworth, Barry Cofield, Stephen Bowen, Josh Wilson, Kellen Clemens and Byron Westbrook all stood on the sidelines or with their coaches, watching their teammates practice.
The players also aren’t allowed to work with team’s strength and conditioning staff. But they’re allowed to receive treatment, watch film, attend team meetings and watch practice.
“We understood the rules going in,” coach Mike Shanahan said. “Everyone’s dealing with the same rules.”
Immediately after practice, the free agents left Redskins Park to lift weights at an undisclosed location, arranged by the team.
“They can’t even workout in our facility,” Shanahan said. “They have to go somewhere else. It’s a little bit different but everyone’s dealing with the same situation.”
