Jabar Gaffney sat in his team meeting in Denver Wednesday morning and was preparing for a conditioning text when Coach John Fox pulled him aside and told him that he was bound for Washington.
"It feels good," the wide receiver said. "It feels good to be wanted.”
The Redskins shipped Jeremy Jarmon to Denver in exchange for Gaffney on Wednesday.
"It shocked me," he said. "I didn't have any clue that it was going to happen."
"I knew there was going to be a lot of crazy things going on. I wasn't sure I was going to be a part of anything," he said. "But Coach [Mike] Shanahan had me in his sights."
It'd seem that Gaffney should be an immediate impact player for the Redskins. He'll have to learn a new offense, but he's already familiar with one quarterback.
Gaffney played his college ball at Florida alongside Rex Grossman, who's expected to re-sign with Washington.
As for John Beck?
"Uh, I mean, I have to get to know a lot more about him," Gaffney said.
