Jarvis Jenkins, Redskins’ second-round pick, agrees to deal

July 28, 2011

The Redskins appear poised to begin practice Friday morning with most of their draft picks on the field.

Defensive end Jarvis Jenkins, the team’s second-round pick, agreed to a deal Thursday night, which means all but two of the team’s picks are now under contract for 2011. First-round pick Ryan Kerrigan still hadn’t signed but the two sides had been working on a deal much of Thursday and it’s possible an agreement could be reached before the Redskins hold their first training camp practice Friday morning.

The only other unsigned pick is offensive lineman Maurice Hurt, a seventh-round selection.

Jenkins is a 6-foot-3, 309-pound defensive end out of Clemson whom the Redskins selected with the 41st overall pick.

He announced his new deal on Twitter, saying, “the INK is on PAPER....imma redskin baby!!!!”

Terms of Jenkins’s deal were not immediately known.
