It’s official, John Beck is no longer No. 3 for the Washington Redskins. The quarterback is now No. 12. Wide receiver Malcolm Kelly, who previously wore No. 12, now is No. 14.
Beck, according to 106.7 The Fan’s Grant Paulsen, had worn No. 12 since he was 8 years old. But once he got to the NFL, someone else always had the number and wasn’t willing to give it up. Kelly was willing to part with the number this year, so Beck officially made the switch, and it became official today.
Other number-related updates: kicker Shayne Graham will wear No. 5, running back Tim Hightower will wear No. 39 for now. Cornerback Josh Wilson will sport No. 26, although rookie Roy Helu also is wearing that number in training camp. Guard Chris Chester is going to wear No. 66, defensive lineman Barry Cofield will wear No. 96 and Stephen Bowen will wear No. 72.
On the injury front, rookie linebacker Ryan Kerrigan appears to still be limited. He went through the walk-through portion of practice, but now is watching full-speed work. Receiver Brandon Banks is sidelined this morning, watching drills with an undisclosed injury. More updates coming later.
