John Beck to start at quarterback for Redskins

October 19, 2011

John Beck will start at quarterback for the Washington Redskins on Sunday, two league sources confirmed Wednesday morning. The news was first reported by ESPN.

Beck takes over for Rex Grossman, who was benched after throwing four interceptions Sunday. Grossman has turned over the ball 11 times in five games.

Beck led Washington on its only touchdown drive Sunday but hasn’t started a game since 2007.

LaVar Arrington, Jason Reid and Dan Steinberg discussed the quarterback situation yesterday on Post Sports Live:

Mike Jones covers the Washington Redskins for The Washington Post. When not writing about a Redskins development of some kind – which is rare – he can be found screaming and cheering at one of his kids’ softball, baseball, soccer or basketball games.
