The Dallas Cowboys will play the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., on Sept. 5 in the NFL’s season-opening game, the league announced Tuesday.
The game is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. and is to be broadcast by NBC. The game is being played on a Wednesday night, one night earlier than the sport’s usual Thursday night season opener hosted by the reigning Super Bowl champion. It was moved to avoid a conflict with President Barack Obama’s speech at the Democratic National Convention.
It previously was known that the Giants would host the game but their opponent had not been identified.
