Former H.D. Woodson safety Tavon Wilson was the first Washington-area native selected in this year’s NFL draft, going in the second round (48th overall) to the New England Patriots Friday night.
“That’s good for him,” H.D. Woodson Coach Greg Fuller said. Patriots Coach Bill “Belichick got a great player. Very athletic, smart player. He’s solid.”
Wilson, who is 6 feet and 205 pounds, made 81 tackles last season as a senior at Illinois. He was an All-Met in 2007 after catching 48 passes for 958 yards and 10 touchdowns and returning two of his nine interceptions for touchdowns.
