QB Crompton added to practice squad

The Washington Redskins have added quarterback Jonathan Crompton to the practice squad, a person familiar with the situation confirmed.

The 6-foot-4, 225-pound former Tennessee standout was drafted in the fifth round of the 2010 draft by San Diego. Crompton didn’t appear in a game last season and also spent time on the Patriots’ practice squad.

The Redskins on Sunday added running back Evan Royster, cornerback Reggie Jones, offensive lineman Maurice Hurt and defensive lineman Doug Worthington to the practice squad. Two more spots remain following Crompton’s signing.

Mike Jones covers the Washington Redskins for The Washington Post. When not writing about a Redskins development of some kind – which is rare – he can be found screaming and cheering at one of his kids’ softball, baseball, soccer or basketball games.
