Quick hits: Mike Shanahan says blocked kicks were line’s fault

Redskins Coach Mike Shanahan had his first victorious Monday press conference since Oct. 3. Among the highlights:

* Shanahan said that Graham Gano’s blocked kicks -- one field goal, one extra point -- were the fault of poor technique on the line. “This game had nothing to do with Graham Gano,” Shanahan said. He said Gano will continue to be the Redskins’ kicker.

* Defensive end Stephen Bowen has a third degree tear of his posterior cruciate ligament. Shanahan said the injury will not require surgery, and there is hope that Bowen could play Sunday against the New York Jets.

* Fullback Darrel Young will undergo tests after sustaining a concussion against Seattle. Shanahan should know more about Young’s status on Wednesday.

* The Redskins had a season-high 115 yards in penalties, including a huge pass interference call against cornerback Josh Wilson. But Shanahan said he wasn’t overly concerned. “Our team is pretty disciplined,” Shanahan said.

More coming soon.
