Quick Hits: Trent Williams still limited with high ankle sprain

Redskins Coach Mike Shanahan said tackle Trent Williams remained limited in practice with the high ankle sprain that has forced him out of the last two games.

Safety Oshiomogho Atogwe (toe, knee) did not practice. Shanahan said almost every player is banged up at this point but said Atogwe is a little more battered than the rest. Tight end Fred Davis (ankle) was limited.

Shanahan said he’s been impressed with the 49ers, who have run the ball well and dominated teams on defense. The coach said those two aspects have helped ease pressure on QB Alex Smith.

Shanahan said the Redskins’ run defense must execute with more consistency as it prepares to face 49er RB Frank Gore this week.

Shanahan said safety Kareem Moore is in better football shape than he has been, but there still is no word on whether the team will activate him from the PUP list.

Shanahan said today that the blocked field goal on Sunday was more a problem with a backup player struggling against pressure than his original assessment that the kick was low. “It was a combination, but there was a substitution there,” Shanahan said.
