Redskins-Bucs: Crowd honors Chris Cooley

The Washington Redskins ended Chris Cooley’s eight-year run in D.C. Tuesday but Redskins fans gave the popular tight end one more night of kudos Wednesday night.

Fans wearing replicas of Cooley’s No. 47 jersey were scattered across the stadium. Early in the first quarter, when one of those fans was shown on the Jumbotron, the partially-filled stadium erupted with a “Cooooooooooley!” chant.

Many fans gave the two-time Pro Bowler a standing ovation.

Drafted in the third round of the 2004 draft, Cooley became a fan favorite. For his career, Cooley recorded 428 catches (fifth on the franchise’s all-time list) for 4,703 yards and 33 touchdowns.
