Redskins claim WR Dezmon Briscoe

The Washington Redskins claimed wide receiver Dezmon Briscoe off waivers, a person with knowledge of the move said.

Briscoe had been waived by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He led the Buccaneers with six touchdown catches last season but, according to reports, missed some of the team’s voluntary offseason workouts and failed the club’s conditioning test before training camp. According to the Tampa Bay Times, that test requires players to run 16 sprints of 110 yards apiece in a predetermined amount of time.

Briscoe had 35 catches for 387 yards last season as a second-year pro. He had six catches in 2010 as a rookie.

The team released undrafted WR Brian Hernandez, who had played in the Canadian Football League and the United Football League the past three years.
