Redskins cut Mike Sellers

The Washington Redskins have cut backup fullback Mike Sellers, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.

Sellers, a 12-year veteran and the longest tenured Redskin on the roster, lost his job as the team’s starter last year to second-year pro Darrel Young, who took over from the start of training camp.

Sellers, who entered the NFL as an undrafted player out of Walla Walla Community College in Washington, had started the previous seven seasons. He appeared in 12 games last season, playing primarily on special teams.

Sellers would have earned $1.05 million during the 2012 season.
