Redskins evaluating several sites in Richmond for 2013 training camp

The Redskins continue to evaluate potential sites in Richmond for their 2013 training camp, coach Mike Shanahan said Wednesday. The coach remains confident that the team will settle on one of those locations.

Redskins general manager Bruce Allen was in Richmond last week evaluating those sites, but no decision has been made on any of them, Shanahan said..

“I think they’ve looked at -- I can’t tell you for sure -- but in talking to Bruce, they’ve got three or four potential sites and he feels very confident that we’ll get something done, and get it done the right way,” Shanahan said.

The Redskins reached an agreement with the State of Virginia in June to hold training camp in Richmond beginning in 2013. As part of the deal, Redskins Park will undergo a $30 million expansion project, with $4 million contributed by the state.
