Redskins-Rams trade is now official

The St. Louis Rams announced Wednesday that the trade that gives the Washington Redskins the second overall pick of the 2012 draft is official.

The Rams formally submitted the trade for league approval Tuesday afternoon. It has now gone through, they said.

The Redskins, who are expected to take Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III with that draft choice, sent this year’s sixth and 39th overall picks, as well as first-round picks in both 2013 and 2014 to St. Louis.

The Redskins currently have six remaining picks in the 2012 draft -- one in the third round, two fourth-rounders, a fifth-rounder, one sixth-round pick and one in the seventh.
