Robert Griffin III, Washington Redskins receivers hold passing camp in Waco, Texas

Griffin & Co. made good on that pledge on Friday, gathering in Waco, Texas, for a passing camp.

“We knew we needed to get together," Griffin told reporters at the NFL's rookie symposium on Thursday. "We got workout facilities and everything.  Shockingly, I convinced them to come to Waco, Texas, because not everybody wants to do that."

Receivers Santana Moss and Pierre Garcon were in attendance, along with Anthony Armstrong, Brandon Banks and tight end Fred Davis, according to 106.7 The Fan's Grant Paulsen.

The Redskins will begin training camp on July 26, but offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan said following the team's full-squad mini-camp that Griffin will benefit from as many additional reps as he can possibly get as he works to learn the team's offense.

“He needs reps. His body’s got to go through it, the muscle memory and everything. From a mental aspect, everything’s been very good,” Shanahan said, then added, "Just getting out there doing it. I don’t care if people are out there with him, I don’t care if he’s doing it by himself. . . . But it’s reps. We can sit in meeting rooms and talk all day. You don’t have to be a genius to get it all. If you work at it — which he no doubt does — you’ll get it from a mental standpoint."
