Ryan Kerrigan, the Redskins’ first-round draft pick, participated fully in the team’s first practice of training camp Friday afternoon. The team held an afternoon walk-through, though, and Kerrigan was the only player under contract who was absent.
Kerrigan, the team’s top selection out of Purdue, agreed to terms late Thursday night and signed his contract with the Redskins Friday morning. He lined up with the first-team defense in the morning as an outside linebacker and appeared fine walking off the field.
Coach Mike Shanahan is expected to address reporters shortly, so check back for updates.
Following Friday’s practice, Redskins Coach Mike Shanahan said that Kerrigan suffered a bone bruise this morning and also hyperextended a knee. An MRI was negative, the coach said.
Shanahan said he though Kerrigan would be okay “in a couple of days.”
