Ryan Kerrigan receives a half-sack, now leads team

Following a review of the Redskins’ 23-17 win at Seattle, rookie Ryan Kerrigan has received a half-sack, and defensive end Stephen Bowen lost a half-sack.

On fourth and 5 with 2:13 left in the game, Washington dialed up an all-out blitz, and Brian Orakpo, Kerrigan and Bowen all got to Tarvaris Jackson for a nine-yard loss.

Originally, Orakpo and Bowen received a half-sack each. But it turns out the two outside linebackers first got to the quarterback.

Kerrigan, Washington’s first-round draft pick out of Purdue, now has a team-high 6.5 sacks. Orakpo has six, and Bowen has 4.5.

Kerrigan’s 6.5 sacks ank third among NFL rookies. Denver’s Von Miller leads the league’s rookies with 10.5 sacks, and San Francisco’s Aldon Smith has 7.5.
