Stephen Bowen, Roy Helu fined for hits in Sunday’s game

December 2, 2011

Two Redskins players have received fines for illegal hits in last Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.

Washington Redskins defensive end Stephen Bowen was fined $15,000 fine for roughing the passer, even though he wasn’t penalized for the incident in Sunday’s game.

On the same fourth-quarter play in which DeAngelo Hall intercepted Tarvaris Jackson to snuff out the Seahawks’ final drive, Bowen lowered his head and hit Jackson helmet-to-helmet.

Bowen received credit for a hit on the quarterback, but no flag was thrown.

In the same game, rookie Roy Helu received a $7,500 fine for a chop block. The Redskins were penalized 15 yards on the third-down play in the first quarter.
