UNC’s Draughn joining Redskins

The NFL tweaked its post-lockout timeline Monday evening and allowed teams to begin negotiating with rookies. Not surprisingly, it didn’t take long for the undrafted rookies to start flying off the market. Redskins news has been slow to trickle out, but we know of at least one player who appears to be Washington-bound.

Former North Carolina tailback Shaun Draughn announced on his Twitter account that he’ll be joining the Redskins. Draughn is a 6-foot, 205-pound tailback who began his college career as a safety. As a senior, he had 637 yards and six touchdowns on 129 carries for the Tar Heels.

Expect a lot more signings to continue through Tuesday. We’ll keep you updated on players the Redskins target, but one good spot to track undrafted free agents league-wide is right here. According to several reports, the Redskins have been linked with former Florida safety Will Hill. We’ve been told, however, that these reports are premature and the two sides have not reached any sort of agreement.
