Former Navy fullback Eric Kettani has signed with the Redskins practice squad, according to his agent.

Kettani was on the New England Patriots practice squad before he was released at the end of August. The lieutenant junior grade was granted early release from his active duty obligations in April, which enabled him to pursue a full-time career in the NFL.

Kettani, 25, made the Patriots squad last summer, but his initial waiver for early release was denied after he moved to Foxboro, Mass. He spent the first five weeks of last season on the practice squad before being recalled to active duty.

Kettani played at Navy from 2006 through 2008. He led the Midshipmen in rushing in 2007 with 880 yards.
