Redskins set to sign Justin Snow as longsnapper

September 11, 2012

The Washington Redskins have decided to sign longsnapper Justin Snow, a person with knowledge of the situation said Tuesday. Snow would at least temporarily replace injured Nick Sundberg, who broke his arm Sunday.

Snow spent the previous 12 seasons with the Indianapolis Colts. He was among a group of longsnappers who worked out Tuesday at Redskins Park.

Sundberg played the second half of Sunday’s season-opening win at New Orleans with a broken left arm. He was hurt late in the first half on a blocked punt that the Saints returned for a touchdown and was in a cast Monday.

Veteran NFL longsnappers Lonie Paxton, Joe Zelenka and Matt Katula also participated in Tuesday’s workout, according to a person close to the situation.
