The second overall pick of the 2012 draft, Griffin made the weekly ballot after leading the Redskins to a 38-26 victory over the Minnesota Vikings Sunday.
In that game, Griffin rushed for a career high 138 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries. He also completed 17 of 22 passes for 182 yards, a touchdown and an interception.
The other nominees for rookie of the week, which is determined by fan voting and will be announced on Friday, are Tampa Bay safety Mark Barron, Cleveland receiver Josh Gordon, Miami quarterback Ryan Tannehill and Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson.
Barron recorded eight tackles (two for a loss) and an interception in his team’s 38-10 win over Kansas City. Gordon had three receptions for 99 yards and a touchdown in Cleveland’s 34-24 win over Cincinnati. Tannehill completed 21 of 29 passes for 185 yards and two touchdowns in the Dolphins’ 17-14 win over St. Louis. And Wilson completed 16 of 27 passes for 293 yards and three touchdowns in a 24-23 win over New England.
Griffin won the honor both times he was nominated.
