Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III had X-rays done on his ribs following Sunday’s game to ensure that he hadn’t broken them, and results were negative.
Griffin took a shot while dropping back a pass play early in the game. He was slow getting up, but didn’t leave the game. Griffin took another hard shot later in the game on a fourth-quarter run that ended with him going airborne while being sandwiched by two Panthers defenders. He jumped right up after the play.
But almost immediately after the game ended, he went in to be X-rayed after he reported soreness in his left side.
Griffin and Coach Mike Shanahan said that the quarterback and the team learned that he is suffering from sore ribs, but that there are not fractures.
“I’m fine. I’ll be ready to go,” Griffin said after the game. “No one is ever going to question the fight I have inside myself to be the greatest and to help this team to victory. It doesn’t matter what it is, I will make sure that I continue to help my team win games and that it starts right after the bye.”
