Redskins add LB Vic So’oto to roster, G Pat Boyle to practice squad

The Redskins have signed linebacker Vic So’oto to their 53-man roster, and added guard Pat Boyle to their practice squad, the team announced Wednesday.

So’oto, a 6-foot-3, 263-pound Brigham Young product, had been on Green Bay’s practice squad. A second-year outside linebacker, So’oto appeared in seven games for Green Bay last season, recording seven tackles. He played in four games for Oakland this season, recording one tackle, and one game for Green Bay before he was released and re-signed to the Packers’ practice squad.

He fills the spot on the roster that was created when Jordan Black was suspended.

The Redskins’ linebacker unit is comprised of inside linebackers London Fletcher, Perry Riley, Bryan Kehl and Lorenzo Alexander, who suffered a stinger to his right shoulder on Sunday, and Roddrick Muckelroy; as well as outside linebackers Ryan Kerrigan, Rob Jackson and Chris Wilson.

Boyle, a 6-foot-5, 301-pound Temple product, signed with Detroit as an undrafted free agent. He spent time on the Lions’ practice squad before he was released on Nov. 16. Boyle fills the roster spot created by the release on Tuesday of linebacker Kourtnei Brown.
