Redskins still in mix for Reggie Bush but Lions appear to be first option

The Redskins remained in the competition, at least on the fringes of it, early Wednesday for free agent running back Reggie Bush.

Bush was in Detroit on Wednesday and the Lions apparently were trying to wrap up a deal to sign him. He also has a visit to Arizona scheduled for a meeting with the Cardinals, if he’s not signed first by the Lions.

A person familiar with the situation said Wednesday that the Redskins have demonstrated “some interest” in Bush.

But Bush likely would be a backup and third-down alternative to starting tailback Alfred Morris with the Redskins. He reportedly has been offered a starting job in Detroit, and it appears possible that a deal with the Lions could be completed within the next few hours.
