A person with knowledge of the situation said the Redskins were one of several teams that attended a private workout for McGee this week. Washington is scheduled to host Williams for a pre-draft visit in early April, according to a person aware of the arrangements.
Projected to go in the third-to-fourth-round range, McGee measured at 5-foot-11, 193 pounds at the NFL Scouting Combine, and clocked a 40-yard dash time of 4.37 seconds.
McGee last season recorded 54 tackles and a team-high two interceptions for the Hurricanes.
Williams was 5-foot-11, 203 pounds and ran a time of 4.48 seconds in the 40-yard-dash. The senior safety last season recorded 106 tackles, 17 pass deflections, two interceptions and a touchdown.
Williams originally was projected as a late-round pick, but following the combine, there has been speculation that he could go in the draft’s middle rounds.
Washington also was one of 32 NFL teams to attend the Pro Day at LSU this week, where defensive back Tyrann Mathieu took part in some on-field work.
Georgia Southern safety J.J. Wilcox received some preliminary interest from the Redskins at the Senior Bowl, but so far doesn’t have a visit or workout scheduled with Washington, two people with knowledge of the situation said.
Southeastern Louisiana cornerback Robert Alford spoke to the Redskins at the Senior Bowl and the combine, but doesn’t have a follow-up visit or workout scheduled yet, according to one source.
