The Washington Redskins are considering signing former West Virginia and Miami Dolphins quarterback Pat White, a person with knowledge of the situation confirmed.
A second-round pick of Miami’s in 2009, White has been out of the league, playing briefly for the UFL’s Virginia Destroyers in 2011. In 13 games he was 0-for-5 passing and carried the ball 23 times for 81 yards.
He has tried out with a handful of NFL teams, including the 49ers, this offseason. He was used in some Wildcat sets by Miami, so he presumably would be another option-style quarterback for Washington, who has Kirk Cousins as Robert Griffin III’s backup. Rex Grossman is a free agent and has had some discussions regarding re-signing, but had yet to work out a deal.
