Washington Redskins players said they won’t give up on their season even after their record plummeted to 0-3 with Sunday’s loss to the Detroit Lions.

“We’ve got to keep playing,” left tackle Trent Williams said. “You don’t turn it in. It’s an 0-3 start, man. We’ve got 13 games left. A lot can be done in 13 games. We’ve just got to go back to the drawing board and give a better effort next week.”

The Redskins play at Oakland next Sunday, then have their bye week. Last season, they were 3-6 at their bye, then reeled off seven consecutive victories to secure the NFC East title.

“We’ve definitely got to get some wins going,” wide receiver Aldrick Robinson said. “If it takes five in a row, seven in a row like last year, that’s what we’ve got to do.”

The Redskins gave a more competitive performance Sunday but were left lamenting a series of costly gaffes.

“We are shooting ourselves in the foot a bit,” wide receiver Pierre Garcon said. “We see it on tape. We’ll get that fixed and get it squared away.”
