Brandon Meriweather: ‘I aimed a little lower’ against Chargers

Safety Brandon Meriweather said Tuesday he “aimed a little lower” in his tackling during the Washington Redskins’ triumph Sunday over the San Diego Chargers at FedEx Field.

“I think I played the same,” Meriweather said at Redskins Park. “I still was aggressive. I aimed a little lower. I celebrated with my team. We got the win.”

Meriweather played Sunday after serving a one-game suspension imposed by the NFL for illegal hits. Meriweather originally was suspended for two games but appealed and had the suspension reduced by appeals officer Ted Cottrell.

Meriweather said the suspension was not on his mind while he played.

“To be honest, I didn’t even think about it,” he said. “I just went and just let what happens happen. I’m not trying to think about it and say, ‘I’m gonna aim lower. I’m gonna aim higher. I’m gonna do whatever.’ I’m gonna just play and whatever happens happens.”
