Quarterback Nick Foles is set to make his 11th NFL start — and fifth this season — for the Eagles on Sunday in Philadelphia against the Washington Redskins.

He has had great success this season playing in the offensive system of Philadelphia’s first year coach, Chip Kelly, with 16 touchdown passes and no interceptions.

Foles wasn’t as successful last season as a rookie, particularly when he made his first NFL start against the Redskins in a mid-November game at FedEx Field. Foles completed only 21 of 46 passes for 204 yards that day. He didn’t have a touchdown pass, threw two interceptions, was sacked four times and had three fumbles, although the Eagles recovered all three. The Redskins won, 31-6, to begin their seven-game winning streak to close the 2012 regular season.

Foles recalled that performance in a midweek conference call with D.C.-area reporters.

“It was a rough game for sure,” he said. “They brought a lot at me, just being a rookie. And being in that situation, I didn’t execute like I wanted to. But you’re going to have games like that in your career and you can’t let it defeat you. You’ve got to learn from the situation. … I’m a year older. I’ve played a lot more football since then and I’ve just got more and more comfortable playing at this level. But with the comfort, there’s still going to be a ton of challenges. And once teams get more and more film, they’ll bring more and more stuff at us to try to stop it.”
