Veteran defensive lineman Kedric Golston said Wednesday he does not believe the Washington Redskinsâ locker room is divided.
âJust because you donât agree on something doesnât mean that youâre apart,â Golston said at Redskins Park. âUltimately we all have the same goal and thatâs going out there winning football games. And when you fall short of that, itâs frustrating. But that doesnât mean your locker room is apart just because people have different opinions. Your family doesnât break down because somebody wants to go to Chiliâs and another person wants to go to Red Lobster. Itâs a disagreement and you deal with that in a family, in a group. You have a different opinion sometimes than your boss but youâre here every day, right? Because youâre out here and do a job and thatâs what weâre all here for.â
Golston said that he and other Redskins players also remain supportive of Coach Mike Shanahan and his staff.
âI believe in what Coach Shanahan and his staff is doing,â Golston said. âObviously the record doesnât show that. And this is a results business. We understand that. But itâs not up to me to hire him or to fire him. So thatâs only a question that the owner can answer because itâs his team and he makes those decisions. Itâs my responsibility and my job to play for Coach Shanahan and thatâs what Iâm doing.â
The Redskins will continue to play hard despite their 3-7 record, according to Golston.
âWeâve got six games left,â Golston said. âThatâs a lot of football left. Thereâs no predictions or anything like that. But understanding that youâre not promised these games in this NFL â and so from a man to a man, all youâre promised is the next day, the next game, the next play. And so as professionals you go out there to win every play, to win every game. And you let the chips fall where they may. And I believe thatâs the type of guys we have in this locker room, the type of character that we have, is that it doesnât matter what our record is. Weâre still called to come out here and practice and play at a high level day in and day out.â

â The Redskins practiced at 1 p.m. Mike Shanahan and Robert Griffin III are expected to speak to reporters afterward.
