Redskins inactives: Bowen, Young sidelined by injuries vs. 49ers

The Washington Redskins will be without starting right defensive end Stephen Bowen and starting fullback Darrel Young as they host the San Francisco 49ers.

Bowen has been nursing a knee injury that he aggravated in Sunday’s game at Philadelphia and missed practice on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. He took part in a limited capacity on Saturday but was unable to play Monday night. Young suffered a hamstring in practice and was listed as limited on Thursday before not practicing on Friday. He said Friday afternoon that he anticipated playing, but only practiced in a limited capacity on Saturday.

Also inactive for the Redskins are tight end Jordan Reed (concussion), quarterback Rex Grossman, safety Jose Gumbs, linebacker Brandon Jenkins and guard Josh LeRibeus.

With Young sidelined, Niles Paul is expected to start at fullback. That could create more opportunities for tight end Fred Davis, who will dress for the first time in six games. It was already expected that Davis could see playing time with Reed sidelined.

Chris Baker will start in place of Bowen.

Starting at wide receiver opposite Pierre Garcon is Josh Morgan, who reclaims that job with Leonard Hankerson lost for the season. Morgan was inactive last week and as started only twice this season (in Week 1 and Week 8).
