The Washington Redskins return to the national stage tonight as they host the San Francisco 49ers at 8:40 p.m. on ESPN.

It’s the Redskins’ third nationally televised game of the season, and so far, they have lost both. Can they reverse the trend?

They face a tall task as they host an angry 49ers team that enters the game as four-point favorites despite playing on the road.

The Redskins enter the game with a 3-7 record and losers of their past two games. The 49ers, meanwhile, own a 6-4 record and also find themselves on a two-game losing streak.

Washington trails this series with a 9-15-1 regular season record against San Francisco and lost the last meeting 19-11 at FedEx Field in 2011. The 49ers have won the past two games.

This Redskins are 7-7 all-time when playing the 49ers at home.

On Friday, we went over the five story lines for this game. Now here are some other things to keep an eye on in this contest:

● Washington ranks sixth in the NFL in total offense with 412.1 yards per game while San Francisco ranks 29th (309.0).

● The Redskins enter this game ranked first in the league with 155.2 rushing yards a game and 5.1 yards per rushing attempt. The 49ers rank fifth in the rushing category (141.0 yards per game).

● The Redskins have rushed for at least 150 yards in three consecutive games. They seek to do so for a fourth consecutive game, which would mark the second time in the past two seasons (Weeks 1-4 of the 2012 campaign) that they have achieved that feat.

● The 49ers have held opponents to just 17.8 points per game (fourth-best in the NFL). Washington, meanwhile, gives up 31.1 points per game (third-worst).

● San Francisco ranks seventh in the NFL in total defense, giving up 323.8 yards per game. The Redskins rank 28th (389.9).

● The 49ers own the seventh-best turnover differential (plus-6) in the NFL while Washington is tied for 18th at minus-2.

● Washington’s defense aims to record a turnover for the 10th game this season. Last week’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles marked the first time this season that the defense hadn’t recorded a takeaway.

● The defense can tie a team record by scoring a sixth defensive touchdown in a season. It would mark the first time since the 1984 campaign.

● Wide receiver Pierre Garcon needs four receptions to set a career-high for catches in a season (71). He recorded a career-best 70 catches in Indianapolis in 2011.

● Garcon needs 77 receiving yards to break a single-season career high (947 in 2011). With 129 receiving yards, Garcon would surpass the 1,000-yard mark.

● Robert Griffin III needs 286 passing yards to become the fifth quarterback in team history to post back-to-back 3,000-yard seasons. He would join Sonny Jurgensen (1966-67), Joe Theismann (1983-84), Mark Rypien (1991-92) and Jason Campbell (2008-09).

● Griffin would become the fourth NFL player since the 1970 league merger to pass for 3,000 yards in his first two seasons. He would join Peyton Manning (1998-99), Cam Newton (2011-12) and Andy Dalton (2011-12).

● Running back Alfred Morris needs 82 rushing yards to reach the 1,000-yard mark. He would become the first Redskins player since Clinton Portis (2007-08) to rush for 1,000 yards in back-to-back seasons.

● Linebacker Ryan Kerrigan needs two sacks to match his single-season career-high (8.5) and tie Wilber Marshall for the 10th most in a career by a Redskins player (24.5).

● Fellow linebacker Brian Orakpo enters the game with 35 career sacks (sixth-most in team history) and is chasing Dave Butz (35.5) for fifth place on the list.

● Orakpo enters the game having recorded a sack in each of his last two games. Orakpo last had sacks in back-to-back games in Weeks 6 and 7 of the 2010 season. Orakpo last strung together a three-game sack streak in Weeks 5-7 of the 2010 campaign.
