Tight end Niles Paul said Wednesday he lost about eight pounds and made a hospital visit but wasn’t kept overnight when he was sick last week. Paul missed the Washington Redskins’ loss Sunday night to the New York Giants but practiced fully Wednesday.

“I’m feeling better, a lot better. … I just had a bad headache and I was extremely dehydrated,” Paul said after Wednesday’s practice. “I went to the hospital and everything. They did blood work. I don’t know. I was sick. … I was there [at the hospital] for Thanksgiving morning. They released me and I was in the facility. I got a couple IVs and that was it.”

Paul said he was told by a doctor that he had a virus.

“I didn’t have the flu,” Paul said. “He said it was probably just a virus because, like I said, I had a bad headache. I was dehydrated. I was getting chills.”

He offered to play against the Giants after receiving a pain-killing injection late last week, he said.

“They gave me a Toradol shot, I think, Friday,” Paul said. “And I felt good because my body was in pain and I had a headache. When they gave me the Toradol, it took everything away. I was like, ‘If you want me, Coach, I can play if you just give me a Toradol shot.’ And he was like, ‘No, just rest. Come back Monday.’ ”
