The Redskins on Wednesday claimed former Denver Broncos center J.D. Walton off of waivers and released wide receiver Lance Lewis, according to the NFL’s daily transaction report.

A third-round pick out of Baylor in 2010, Walton started every game of his first two seasons, and the first four of his third season. But he broke an ankle and missed the remainder of the season. The 6-foot-3, 305-pound Walton, who played at Baylor with quarterback Robert Griffin III, hadn’t played a game this season and was released by Denver on Tuesday.

Lewis spent the bulk of the season on Washington’s practice squad before being promoted to the 53-man roster four weeks ago.
